McKinley High's Spanish teacher Will Schuester begs Prinicipal Figgins for the job as Glee Club organiser when the former incumbent is sacked.

Will's wife receives some unexpected news, and the Glee Club has their first performance in front of the whole school.

Will forms an a capella group, and spends more time with them than he does with New Directions after he is asked to preform at the PTA meeting with some surprising additions to his group.

To impress his father, Kurt joins the football team, while Sue continues in her efforts to have the Glee Club dismantled.

In order to give the Glee Club more of an edge, Will recruits his former classmate, April Rhodes, to spice their routines up. However, despite adding more of an edge, Will realises he may be losing one of his members.

Will decides to give New Directions some competition between them by having the boys go against the girls, and Terri becomes the school nurse to check on Will.
